Action Figures are everywhere.
As seen here:
Which, as the eagle-eyed viewer I am, I spot as the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Wesley "Bad Girls" action figure, which I happen to own,
with some glasses glued on his head and a red tie.
The fact that Colbert used a Wes action figure is cool on so many levels, and so perfect!
Summer 2009
The first information is up for this year's Can't Stop the Serenity. I've already pre-ordered my shirt.
I'm seriously considering a trip to Chicago for the Harry Potter Exhibit. I just need to decide on dates.

I also must go see Green Day this tour. I neglected to do so last time and I regret it. Rancid is going to be in Baltimore - that's a maybe. And I still haven't been to the 9:30 to hear Bob Mould DJ. Must do that.
I've got a full summer planned, now come Lottery! Mama needs gas money, and a vacation in Europe!
Twitter is puzzling me.
Speaking of following, is it usual that random people just start following you? A guy who records ambient music started following me. I'm not sure why.
Also, can someone explain the Follow Me Friday business?
My parent's house
This is what it looks like today, April 20th, at my folk's house in the upper peninsula of Michigan. This is the backyard.
Note to self: must win lottery and buy elderly parents new house in warm climate.
I would, however, keep this house ready and stocked with food and weapons in case of a Zombie Apocalypse. All that cold makes the zombies slow and easy to dispatch.
You know what you get after watching eight episodes of B5 in a row? Dreams about Vorlons.
There's a new coffee machine system we're trying at the office and because I'm so very tired, I tried the espresso. Not bad. But even though I rarely drink coffee it's not really perking me up. My system processes coffee at a million miles an hour but still hangs on to carbohydrates I ate four years ago. Stupid metabolism.
I downloaded the new Green Day single and I can't stop playing it. I'm very much looking forward to the album, but I'm not very happy with the marketing being done by Warner Brothers. I pre-ordered the album some weeks ago. After that pre-order there was an offer for a super-mega version with cool booklets and other stuff. I don't really care about the packaging, but many people had already ordered a copy when they would've preferred the expanded version. What cheeses me is that if pre-ordred on I-Tunes, there are bonus tracks. Will the original cd pressing have any bonus tracks? I don't know, but I'm rather pissed that WB is milking this and fucking with a very loyal fanbase.
How I wish Lookout Records had kept their shit together and not defaulted on their roylaties to Green Day. I'd happily buy the vinyl version from them and be done with it, but the label burned their bridges with the band and I'm stuck with Warner Bros. shennaigans.
I've read this story...
It seems there are a species of ants that are all female and reproduce by cloning. I've read that story before. Alice Sheldon, you were so amazing.
What do henchmen do with their spare time? Start a book club.
The more I read about the Star Trek porn movie, the more I want to see it. It looks like they really tried with the costumes and sets. I wonder what the music will sound like? The dude playing Kirk is able to throw a Full Shatner so I have hope for at least some of the acting. I know we won't see Kirk and Spock making sweet love down by the fire, but still. It could actually work. If they can sell this maybe there'd be an entire series of moives based on the incarnations of Trek. I'm giggling just thinking about it.
It's Friday, it's 70 degress out, I have a full evening of fan girl goodness planned, and I broke down and bought the new Green Day single "Know You Enemy" off I-Tunes. I will be blasting it on the car stereo all the way home! There's something about Green Day that makes me feel 19 years old and pissed off, and I love them for that.
It takes so little to make me happy.

I haven't read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies yet, but I'm already looking forward to the author's second book Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
So, today we find out that someone at Amazon thought it would be a good idea to make the site "safer" by removing the rankings for certain books it finds questionable. Oh, Amazon. You've been around long enough to know better. You make me sad.
Does anyone have a link to a site that includes addresses for the mailing of letters explaining how that's just not cool?
ETA: This makes complete sense to me.
Icon Meme
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
1. Reply to this post and I will pick six of your icons
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create an icon spiral which will expand and take over the universe.
The artist is Kozik and he's awesome. This is one of my crappy homemade icons that I love.
The first season of Dexter was a delight. The icon was made by
myrasis and featuresDoakes, a cop in the same police department where Dexter works, showing how he followed Dexter around allseason trying to catch him doing something naughty. Doakes liked to swear a whole fucking lot. He didn't likeDexter and could never quite figure out what was going on until it was much, much too late. The moral of the storyis don't get between the serial killer and the horrible people he's trying to kill. You'll end up getting fried all crispy.
From The Soup. This icon was made by
iconzicons and memorializes a running joke on the show. It's from a story about a random image on still store that was, for no apparent reason, broadcast for five seconds during a local westcoast newscast dealing with drunk driving. Spaghetti Cat has made many appearences on The Soup but never has much to say.

In this scene, our heroes have to be decontaminated and Dubby does not believe that they have to take off their
clothes. The Middleman replies that he is indeed serious, "Serious as a German film festival." And just look at his camo boxers! This show was so awesome. *sniff*

Mom? Is that you?
I talked to my Mom today and among the random family chatter I found out that my folks watch The Daily Show. They watch the 8pm (7pm Central Time) replay from the night before. Every day! They hate Rush Limbaugh and my Mom frequently gets mad at the pundits on Fox News and yells at the television. Whoa.
For those of you with liberal leaning or centrist parents, you may think "yeah, so?". But my folks were Regan/Bush/Bush Republicans. Hardcore Republicans. All it took was years of me running my mouth about the government and the loss of a goodly chunk of their retirement and the stupid that was the public face of George W. Bush to make my parents Democrats. Which after eight years, is the one and only thing for which I'm gratefull to W.
Something so sucktastic it makes my bowels clench.

Why I love The Onion.
This gave me a severe case of workplace giggles.
Anyone ever try these Black Phoenix oils? I'm going to try Obsidian Widow, among others.
The crack just keeps on coming...
Ugh. I cringe as I type this. Okay.....The Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series is going to be a movie on IFC.
I started reading the Anita Blake series by Laurel K. Hamilton some years ago. It's a good idea: in a world where vampires, were-animals and magic are trying to exist side by side with the mundanes, someone has to enforce the rules. In St. Louis, that someone is Anita Blake, a federally authorized vampire killer. See, if a vamp breaks the law, there's only one punishment and that's a short walk on a sunny pier. Our girl Anita has dispatched many a bad vampire. But the longer she does her job, the harder it is to tell good from bad. For most of Anita's life, morality was a black and white concept and she's the Good Guy. But what if she's not. What if she enjoys her job just a little too much? What if she's actually a darker creature than those she hunts?
That sounds good, right? Glen Morgan should totally take the plot in that direction because that's interesting and not all how the books handled the story.
( Cut...in which I complain about how creepy the books are. )
I know, deep down, my president really IS this geeky. And I love him for it.
You know Edward was thinking it.
Has anybody heard anything about the new Prisoner remake?

Rhys Ifans is Xeno Lovegood. I approve.

It's a Scottish coin painted and made into a pendant. The new trend in jewelry seems to be using old coins in various ways. I'm drawn to thistles these days, so the Scottish coins caught my eye. Now I just have to find a proper chain.
This is going to be epic!
Epic fail or epic win, either way is good with me! I so hope this gets picked up for next year!!!
In a nutshell, the CW decides to develop a tv series based on these books written by this author. Take a moment to appreciate the author's photo. She's posed with a "unicorn". I don't have words.
( Discussion of Pretty Boy Vampires, cut if you don't what to be spoiled for any future TV show. )

I've found another thing to add to my Birthday Wish List.
Why does Netflix hate me so? They're making a good bit of money off of me as I've gotten slow about returning movies, so why can't they send the first movie of my queue when it says it's available?? No, they send me the second. It seems Netflix thinks I need to watch "Milk" and it's boy-kissing instead of the new animated Wonder Woman featuring the voice of one Nathan Fillion.
In other news, the Tuscan Pane bread from Trader Joe's is my new crack.
Oh gravy, I've been tagged.
One of the benefits of having few friends is that I rarely get tagged for memes.
This has allowed me to metaphorically wallow in my metaphorical bean bag chair in the corner of the rumpus room, metaphorically being lazy while eating metaphorical cheez curlz and playing metaphorical 8-bit Nintendo games and every now and again yellling "Yeah! What she said." as my contribution to the general conversation.

Food Poisoning Sucks.
So, Thursday night was bad. Like, I won't even describe it bad.
Friday I called in sick to work. That was a lost day of napping and running to the toilet and drinking lots of water.
Today things have quieted down, but my innards are exhausted from the mayhem. I'm cheering myself up by watching old episodes of Big Bang Theory between trips to the bathroom.
I'm eating toast, but even though I think I'd be fine with other food nothing sounds good. I know I won't be eating anything with red sauce for some time.
At least I had nothing big planned this weekend like a wedding or a trip, so that's an upside. I did miss Sci Fi Friday at Chez
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Okay, back to napping.
Happy!
You know that feeling when you're just going through your day and you remember something really good and there's a little microburst of joy in your brain matter? I love that feeling. I had forgotten it was Friday and there's tv on tonight and I'll be visiting
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
For example:
This weekend I'll see Watchmen. I'm guessing my favorite part of the movie will be Rorschach while my favorite part of the book was Dr. Manhattan. All I know for sure is I'm not drinking much liquid because this movie is about 63 hours long.
There's a recent Star Trek trailer in which there's a shot of Spock that makes me all wibbly inside. I think I'm sort of in love with Spock again. Thanks Quinto!
The power of Pretty Boy Witches just won't stop! Ha! I remember seeing that movie with

I'm limiting my budget on fannish stuff, but I love supporting indie musicians and film makers by buying stuff directly from the artists. So I couldn't resist buying a movie made by one Walter Koenig which will also get me a copy of the indie made ST: Of Gods and Monsters. Please check it out and buy a copy if you can and you're so inclined.
And I've recently become infatuated with Sheldon from "Big Bang Theory". More accurately, with Jim Parsons who plays Sheldon. I started watching the show a few weeks ago and I'm just smitten with the way he plays that character. The whole thing is cute and funny enough, but there's about 14 levels going on with Sheldon and I'm just smitten. That's me. I love the crazy one or the geeky one and the outsider.
Now, if there was a show featuring these two, my head would explode.
